Manchester Airport Hybrid Install

A large-scale complex installation delivered to high standards in a demanding, fast-paced environment.
Project Overview

Houlkair was commissioned to complete a new hybrid air conditioning installation at a commercial property in Manchester, located next to Manchester Airport. The project involved installing a new system to serve the building using multiple indoor units and centralised controls.

The installation included 12 FCU units, along with one BC controller and one central controller to manage the system.

Our Process

Challenges

One of the main challenges during the project involved the pipework installation above the rooms, which required careful coordination to ensure everything was routed correctly.

Some of the indoor units also required long pipe runs, which added complexity to the installation and required careful planning to ensure the correct layout and positioning.

Solution and Approach

To manage the installation effectively, the team used kneeling pads while working in the required areas, helping maintain safe and practical working conditions.

In addition, drawings were scaled carefully to ensure accurate dimensions, allowing the pipework routes and equipment placement to be installed correctly.

Results

The project was completed four weeks ahead of the scheduled handover date, allowing the system to be ready earlier than planned.

Additional Notes

As with many commercial projects, formal testimonials can be difficult to obtain. However, much of Houlkair’s work comes from repeat business, reflecting ongoing relationships with commercial clients.
